چکیده

The local community has caught mud crabs for years and increased fishing pressures, leading to biological structure changes. Accordingly, studying the growth pattern, condition factors, of crab in Sanrangang River, Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi Province is necessary. This research was conducted from June August 2020 Province. study compared efficiency effectiveness three types bubu, namely folding rakkang wheel bubu based on experimental by using tilapia as bait. Data were analyzed Chi-Square non-parametric test. Results showed that catch rakkangs, 120; 107; 110 species. width weight crabs’ carapace each follows: ranged 34.07 99.02 mm (60.34 ± 15.06 mm) 21.62 389.57 g (92.41 75.38 g); 35.09 98.51 (66.91 13.95 21.94-297.29 (87.86 34.35 g) 34.21- 98.11 (66.32 16.83 22.01-485.45 (102.17 79.87 g). patterns all gear negative allometric. factors 0.40631-2.3998, 0.4598-2.4553 0.4962-3.1098 respectively. producing highest best factor bubu.

Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis of Chitin and Chitosan from the Shell of the Mud Crab, Scylla Serrata (forskal, 1775)

Chitin and Chitosan are polysaccharides found abundantly in nature. The presence of these polysaccharides is found largely in marine ecosystem next only to the plant source is noteworthy. Especially the production and consumption of crustaceans like crabs and prawns have increased in the recent years, thereby generating a large amount of solid shell waste. In the present study the crab, Scylla ...

Preliminary Study on the Feeding Regime of Laboratory Reared Mud Crab Larva, Scylla serrata (Forsskal, 1775)

Survival of larvae of mud crab, Scylla serrata (Forsskal, 1775) is a persistent issue in the field of induced breeding of the species. A preliminary study was conducted on feeding regimes of laboratory reared larvae and juveniles of S. serrata. The results showed that the survival of the larvae fed with green water alone or green water with plankton and feed was not significantly different from...

Non-indigenous giant mud crab, Scylla serrata (Forskål, 1775) (Crustacea: Brachyura: Portunidae) in Malaysian coastal waters: a call for caution

Introduction of non-indigenous species into a well-established ecosystem can be detrimental, resulting in both ecological and economical damage. Two specimens of giant mud crab, Scylla serrata were found for the first time in two geographically distinct mud crab landing sites (Matang Mangrove Forest Reserve, Perak and Kota Marudu Mangrove Forest, Sabah) in Malaysia. Their identities were confir...

Biological evaluation of crab meat (Scylla-serrata) in the rat.

Shell-fish are of some significance in the human diet. Because of their high content of protein, low content of fat and high proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids, they are commonly recommended in diets designed to treat atherosclerotic patients. However, little work on their nutritional value has been reported. Assessments of the biological value of different crab-meat preparations indicat...

A survey on the production and marketing of mud crab, Scylla serrata (Forskal, 1755) in the south-western part of Bangladesh

An investigation was conducted to estimate approximate production and assess the marketing of mud crab in the south-western region of Bangladesh. Crab culture was done by hardening and fattening collected from the natural source. Most of the fattening farms were 0.2 to 2 acres. Fattening and hardening period varied from 10 to 30 days. The Sundarban mangrove, tidal rivers, estuaries, canals, shr...
